I am an architect, educator, researcher, editor and freelance writer. I work in the fields of architecture and interior design history, theory and criticism, with a personal interest in all forms of writing, paper architecture and the editorial world, and an academic interest in cultural sociology, gender studies and critical heritage studies. In specific, I articulate alternative, feminist methods that uncover the value of women’s contribution to spatial design history. My research also tackles the role that identity, gender and culture play in the design, use and alteration of architecture and interiors. In the past I looked at theoretical implications of demolition, refurbishment, movement and reproduction of cultural heritage (both ordinary, iconic, fixed, and mobile), exploring issues of memory, identity and authenticity at the urban, architectural and individual scales.

I hold a PhD from the Royal College of Art (RCA) that was supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation STEM Scholarship. My thesis, titled From Within: Uncovering Cultural Domesticity, was supervised by Adrian Lahoud, Sam Jacoby and Catherine Ince and looks at women’s inhabitation cultures, the processes of appropriation of domestic interiors through everyday, enculturated practices and ordinary objects. I am Fulbrighter and alumna of the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Master in Design Studies (MDes) in Critical Conservation, degree with distinction. My MDes thesis titled Field of Objects: The Preservation of the Domestic Condition was supervised by Antoine Picon. I previously studied at the Architectural Association (AA) in London (MPhil Projective Cities), the ENSA Paris-Belleville, and I graduated in Architecture with distinction from Sapienza University, Rome.

I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at the New York Institute of Technology, where I teach history and theory of architecture and interior design. I previously worked as part-time lecturer, thesis supervisor (both research and design) at the BFA and MFA in Interior Design at Parsons The New School, New York. I was leader of the undergraduate (BArch) course in “History and Theory of Architecture” and the Post-Graduate course “Discourses and Reflections” at the faculty of Creative Arts of the University of Hertfordshire (UH). I previously led the BA course in “Contextual Studies” at Middlesex University (London). I am also directing the bilingual book series Stanze for Lettera Ventidue Edizioni, I am a member of the scientific committee of the book series TRACCE - Seminari del Dottorato di Ricerca in Architettura, Teorie e Progetto by Sapienza University, faculty of Architecture,  I have been the first chief editor of the magazine koozArch and I am a freelance journalist for the Giornale dell’Architettura and koozArch.

I previously worked as visiting lecturer in architecture at Regent’s University and I taught a college-wide course at the RCA on Material Culture and Identity. I was also a researcher at Foster + Partners (London), a Research Assistant (RA) at the RCA, Teaching and Research Assistant in both Harvard GSD (I worked with Peter G. Rowe, K. Micheal Hays, Charles Waldheim and Mohsen Mostafavi) and Sapienza University. I have been invited as guest critic at the Cooper Union in New York, Parsons The New School, Pratt University, NYIT, the AA, The Bartlett (UCL), RCA, UH and the School of Sustainability (SOS).

During my years at Harvard I collaborated in the foundation of the AIA-awarded (Douglas Haskell Award) journal OBL / QUE specialized in the emerging discipline of Critical Conservation, where I worked as editor and published a critical essay and an interview with the 2021 Pritzker Prize recipient architect Anne Lacaton. Other essays, articles, reviews and short texts have been published in Interiority, Urban Planning, Giornale dell’Architettura, Docomomo, Interiors: Design/Architecture/Culture, Masks, Open Letters, koozArch and AArchitecture. I co-authored an essay published on the official magazine of the Italian Architectural Archives (AAA) that focuses on architect Maurizio Sacripanti, the essay was presented at MaXXI museum in Rome. I am also co-author of the book The Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Palava City (2017) published by the Harvard Graduate School of Design Press.

I recently presented my research at the VI International Congress on Architecture and Gender (ICAG 2023) linked to the International Archive of Women in Architecture IAWA , the second conference "A New Italian Home (Per una Nuova Casa Italiana 2 - NCI2)”, I presented (and published) my research at the16th International DOCOMOMO Conference Tokyo Japan 2020+1 Inheritable Resilience: Sharing Values of Global Modernities, at the New England chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians (Boston University), at the  ICOMOS conference “Places of Memory" held in Florence and the AMPS conference “Tangible - Intagible Heritage(s)” at the University of East London.

Sono una architetta, docente universitaria, ricercatrice, scrittrice, Fulbright scholar. Attualmente ricopro il ruolo di Visiting Assistant Professor presso il New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), dove insegno storia e teoria dell’architettura e di interni. Sono inoltre direttrice della collana di architettura bilingue Stanze (Lettera Ventidue Edizioni), faccio parte del comitato scientifico della collana TRACCE - Seminari del Dottorato di Ricerca in Architettura, Teorie e Progetto della facoltà di Architettura dell’università Sapienza, e sono giornalista freelance per il Giornale dell’Architettura e KoozArch. Laureata con lode presso la facoltà di architettura della Sapienza di Roma ho ottenuto un master (con lode) presso la facoltà di architettura (Graduate School of Design) di Harvard. Sono stata una studentessa del Master “Projective Cities” presso la Architectural Association di Londra. Ho avuto inoltre l’opportunità di studiare all’ENSA Paris-Belleville, alla quale ho affiancato uno stage presso lo studio di architettura Italo-Francese 5+1AA. Ho ottenuto un dottorato di ricerca in storia e teoria dell’architettura presso il Royal College of Art di Londra, sponsorizzato dalla Stavros Niarchos Foundation STEM Scholarship.

Parallelamente all’attività editoriale e di ricerca - sono stata la prima capo redattrice della rivista online koozArch - proseguo la mia carriera accademica a New York, dove ho precedentemente supervisionato le tesi di laurea (sia di ricerca che progettazione) dei corsi di laurea e master in Architettura degli Interni presso Parsons The New School. Hoinoltre diretto il corso della triennale di “Storia e Teoria dell'Architettura” ed il corso della specialistica “Discourses and Reflections” alla University of Hertfordshire in Inghilterra. Ho precedentemente diretto ed insegnato il corso di “Contextual Studies” presso la Middlesex University. Ho inoltre lavorato come assistente nel corso di rappresentazione della facoltà di Valle Giulia alla Sapienza nel 2014, e presso l'università di Harvard nel corso del 2016 e 2017. In quegli anni ho portato avanti numerosi progetti di ricerca per i docenti K. Micheal Hays, Charles Waldheim ed i precedenti presidi di facoltà Peter G. Rowe e Mohsen Mostafavi. Per quest’ultimo ho diretto un gruppo di ricerca sul tema delle città americane. Nel corso del 2018 ho lavorato come ricercatrice per lo studio di architettura internazionale Foster + Partners nella sede centrale di Londra.

Durante i miei anni ad Harvard ho collaborato alla fondazione della rivista “OBL/QUE” specializzata nella disciplina emergente della Conservazione Critica e insignita della Douglas Haskell Award, all'interno della quale ho pubblicato un saggio critico ed una intervista alla vincitrice del Pritzker Prize 2021, l’architetta Anne Lacaton. Altri saggi, articoli e testi brevi sono stati pubblicati nelle riviste Interiors: Design/Architecture/Culture, Masks e Open Letters, ma anche su koozArch, AArchitecture ed il bollettino ufficiale degli Archivi di Architettura Italiani (AAA), dove ho contribuito alla stesura di un saggio che tratta per la prima volta il tema dell'idea di città del celebre architetto Maurizio Sacripanti. Il testo è stato presentato nell'aula magna del museo MaXXI di Roma. Sono inoltre co-autrice del libro The Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Palava City (2017) pubblicato dalla Harvard Graduate School of Design Press.

Ho presentato la mia ricerca di dottorato alla seconda conferenza sulla Nuova Casa Italiana (NCI2) organizzata dal Politecnico di Milano e l’Università di Pisa, ed ho precedentemente presentato (e pubblicato) la mia ricerca alla 16esima Conferenza Internazionale DOCOMOMO a Tokyo, Giappone 2020+1 Inheritable Resilience: Sharing Values of Global Modernities. Ho inoltre presentato i miei progetti di ricerca precedenti presso il simposio annuale della New England chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians alla Boston University, ho illustrato un mio paper alla conferenza ICOMOS “Places of Memory" di Firenze, ed ho presentato la mia ricerca di dottorato alla conferenza della AMPS “Tangible-Intangible heritage(s)” alla University of East London.

A queste attività ho affiancato la curatela delle mostre “Research Iteneraries” presso la Galleria FortyK di Harvard, e “Documents” presso la Royal College of Art. Ho organizzato e partecipato ad eventi e simposi alla Royal College of Art e l'Istituto di Cultura Italiano di Boston, e partecipato a delle giurie di metà e fine anno delle facoltà di architettura della Cooper Union, Royal College of Art, Architectural Association, University College London a Londra e SOS di Bologna.
